Our style is called New Concept of Philippine Arnis because Grandmaster Mongcal didn’t make any difference between the terms arnis and escrima. Using the usual types of classification, one would rather call it escrima.

The New Concept of Philippine Arnis (NECOPA) has been founded in 1993 by the Filipino Grandmaster Arnulfo L. Mongcal, Visayo Balinado (sen.) and Grandmaster Toni Veeck,  who is the cardinal student of GM Mongcal. More information on the biographies of these men and the history of NECOPA and also the Balintawak style, which plays an important role in the NECOPA history, will soon be available on the Style page. and on the People page.
There are also a lot of other topics which we want to include on this site, so please keep checking for this.
